London Triathlon
Wow - what a day - 1500m swim, 40km bike, and 10km run.
Sadly though it wasn't me - just the people I was watching at the London Tri! I got there later than I intended to, having sat around much longer than expected watching the end of the cricket. Anyhow - I arrived around 1pm, walked across the bridge to the Excel Centre, look down at the runners, and my eye was caught by the pirate tops outside a pub. Sounds like this was going to be a good place to watch from!
It was - and I only stuck to the soft drinks for one pint - after that I went onto lager, so not great for training. We cheered Dan RW and Oxy on, and then later, Lindi, Monique and Clair (Petal).
It was about 5:30 by then, so I went inside with the others and we found Lindi, who'd taken an elbow to the ear and had a ruptured ear drum. Sounds like the swim was absolutely brutal (Oxy had commented on this too). Does make me nervous about doing a big tri event.
A great day out anyhow - just a shame we had to put up with the incessant cried of "Banana Army" from just along the road. I think we wanted to shoot them by the end!
