Back in the Swim
Discipline: Swimming
Distance: 2500 metres
Bqck to the pool for the first time in ages, this time armed with anti-histamine, in the hope that it'll stop the horrible after-swim sneezing and snottiness. Well, the good news is that it's definitely helped, the bad news is that it hasn't stopped completely :o(
I got up later than intended and was half expecting the pool to be chocka, but it was actually relatively quiet - maybe everyone has gone out for the day? I did four easy lengths to warm up, and then went straight into timing myself over 800m. I'm pleased to relate that I knocked over ten seconds off my PB, registering:
800m PB - 18:15.53
which was great. I swam a few more lengths and then went for a 200m, time and did
200m PB - 4:08.7
the thing I worked on today was lengthening my stroke so that I was "pulling" all the way back with my hand until it touched my thigh, rather than bringing it over into recovery earlier, thus losing some of the power of the pull.
Strange "hopping on one leg man" was at the pool again - not quite sure what he's up to, I suspect recovering from an injury, but I really don't get why he has to do his practice in something called the swimming lane. The clue's in the name - duh!
